Title: Detection of Cosmic Rays from ground: an Introduction - 2

Speaker: Giuseppe Di Sciascio (INFN, Rome)

Time: 21:00 (Beijing Time), Monday, 2020-11-2

Abstract:

Cosmic rays are the most outstanding example of accelerated particles. They would represent by far the most important energy transformation process of the Universe.  Up to now, the VHE emission has been firmly detected by many ground-based experiments, including both air shower arrays and Cherenkov telescopes.

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) is a leading ground-based experiment, and has been playing an important role in this field.  Inspired by this, Prof. Giuseppe Di Sciascio is going to give us 4 lectures on the Detection of Cosmic Rays from ground. This is the second one. In this lecture, he will talk of the techniques to measure energy spectrum, elemental composition and anisotropy.

About the speaker:

Giuseppe Di Sciascio is a Senior Researcher of the INFN at the University of Roma Tor Vergata (permanent position). He got his doctor degree in 1993 at University of Naples. He has been the Spokesperson of the Italian side of the ARGO-YBJ Collaboration since 2012. He is a member of Cosmic Ray working groups of MATHUSLA and SWGO projects, and responsible of the Roma Tor Vergata group of the E989 experiment at Fermilab.
