報告題目: From Uranium Minerals to Nanoscale Uranium Materials Applied to Nuclear Materials Processing
報告人: Prof.Peter C.Burns (University of Notre Dame)

時間: 11月20日上午9:00
地點: 化學(xué)樓C305會議室
報告簡介:
The topological complexity present in uranyl minerals inspired development of an extensive family of nanoscale uranyl peroxide cage clusters. These structurally and compositionally complex clusters contain as many as 124 uranyl ions, have diameters ranging to 4 nm, form spontaneously in water at room temperature, are highly soluble and stable in water, and are resistant to radiation damage. They are highly effective in promoting the solubility of normally insoluble uranium compounds, such as nuclear fuels, and it is possible to develop separations processes that take advantage of their unusual sizes and masses.
