  講座題目NSLS2 Diagnostic Systems Commissioning and Beam Measurements

  內(nèi)容摘要: 

  As the newest and most advanced third generation light source, NSLS2 has been commissioned in 2014 and open for general user operation in 2015. The 3GeV storage ring generates ultra-low emittance of less than 1nm.rad horizontally and 8pm.rad vertically. The machine has started top-off operation since October 2015. Top off user operation current has been gradually increased to 250mA and highest storage current of 400mA has been achieved during recent studies. Diagnostic systems have been commissioned with beam and proved to be critical to the success of machine commissioning and stable operation. In the talk, I will present the most recent beam commissioning results of various diagnostic systems in the NSLS2 injector and storage ring, including profile monitors, current monitors and position monitors. Beam measurements will be discussed using these advanced tools to characterize the lattice, study the orbit stability, single bunch and coupled bunch instabilities etc.  

  報(bào)告人簡介: 

  Weixing Cheng is an accelerator physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory, working on NSLS2. His research is focused on advanced diagnostics development and beam measurements. Before joining NSLS2 in 2008, Weixing was a postdoc at Japan's High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) from 2004-2007. He worked at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory PEP-II and SPEAR3 from 2007-2008"
